[ES_JOBS_NET] Postdoc Announcement: Downscaling Mountain Wind Fields

Hi everyone!

We are recruiting a Postdoctoral Fellow to join our research group in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at UiT - The Arctic University of Norway on downscaling wind fields in complex terrain for a better understanding of cryospheric processes.

We are particularly interested in snow dynamics and the connections between coherent wind structures with accumulation and erosion. The Postdoc topic is flexible and we welcome applications and project proposals from independent researchers interested in other aspects of environmental fluid dynamics. This work can be conducted in concert with collaborators in Canada, New Zealand, and Central Europe. Strong mathematical and modeling (e.g. PALM or WRF) skills are an asset. The start date is flexible in 2025.  The position is fully funded, including a federal salary and many other great Norwegian social benefits. The UiT campus is near the center of Tromsø, a vibrant city located in Northern Norway with approximately 75,000 inhabitants. The university is uniquely situated in a comfortably-sized city with an international airport but is immediately surrounded by the stunning mountains and fjords of Northern Scandinavia. The location also offers ample opportunities, e.g., skiing, hiking, ocean activities, northern lights viewing and the midnight sun.
