The Agency
Established in 1959, the Yuba Water Agency is a stand-alone public agency governed by a board of seven elected officials to serve the people of Yuba County. The agency owns and operates the Yuba River Development and Narrows 1 Projects, which includes New Bullards Bar, Log Cabin, and Our House dams. Water released from New Bullards Bar travels to the New Colgate and Narrows I and II powerhouses, where it is used to generate renewable, carbon-free electricity. Nestled in the beautiful foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains, the Yuba River Development Project significantly reduces flood risk and ensures a reliable water supply for the people of Yuba County.

Agency Government
The Agency is governed by a seven-member board of directors made up of the five Yuba County Board of Supervisors and two members at large. The Board meets on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday morning of every month.
Water Resources and Flood Risk Reduction Department and the Position
The Water Resources and Flood Risk Reduction Department is responsible for surface water deliveries to much of the valley floor in Yuba County, managing the groundwater basin as the Groundwater Sustainability Agency for the North and South Yuba River Subbasins (medium and high priority basins, respectively), and supporting partnering flood protection and levee districts toward reducing the risk from flooding in Yuba County. The Department also manages the Yuba River Accord in close collaboration with the Resources Planning Department, which includes a robust groundwater substitution transfer program.

The Hydrologists collects, analyzes, processes and maintains hydrologic and meteorological data to support Yuba Water Agency in its mission to provide reliable water supply for irrigation, groundwater management, flood control, power generation, and to maintain water rights and meet minimum flow requirements.
