The Department of Earth System Science at the University of California,
Irvine is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar to study extreme events in climate
model simulations within Prof. Jane Baldwin’s research group.

This position will primarily support a NOAA-funded project focused on
examining compound tropical cyclone–heat wave events in high-resolution
Global Climate Model simulations. The project is a collaboration between UC
Irvine, Columbia University, and NOAA’s Geophysical Fluid Dynamics
Laboratory.

Depending on the candidate’s interests, there is also flexibility to engage
with other ongoing research in the group related to climate dynamics and
the modeling of extreme event hazards and impacts—spanning applications in
public health, disaster risk reduction and response, and paleoclimate.
