Fully Funded Ph.D. Position in Climate-Energy Nexus

The Urban Climate Research Lab in the Department of Atmospheric and Earth Science (AES) at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) is seeking a Ph.D. student in Atmospheric Science, starting in Fall 2025. This NSF-funded position will support research aimed at advancing the understanding of climate change and its impacts on energy systems in the United States. The selected student will work on state-of-the-art regional weather modeling and/or multi-scale climate data related to weather extremes. There will also be opportunities to collaborate with state climatologists and an interdisciplinary project team from UAH, the National Center for Atmospheric Research, New Mexico State University, and other universities.

Requirements
The ideal candidate should have a strong quantitative background in one or more of the following areas: atmospheric science, climatology, statistics, big data analytics, or related physical sciences. Proficiency with at least one programming language (such as R, Python, or MATLAB) is highly desirable. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are also expected.
