Job description:
Okazaki Lab. at CEReS, Chiba University, Japan, has embarked on an exciting and ambitious program to constrain the climate projection uncertainty using unique information recorded in stable isotope ratios in hydrometeors and data assimilation technique. We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher to tackle this topic with us. The position is funded by JSPS Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (B) named "The New Horizons in Isotope Atmospheric and Hydrological Science Unveiled by the Next-Generation Geostationary Meteorological Satellite Himawari-10".
The successful applicant will work on either or multiple of the following research topics:
- Development of an isotope-enabled cloud-resolving model
- Study on cloud processes using satellite and UAV observations of stable water isotopes
- Atmospheric model parameter estimation with stable water isotopes
Qualifications, requirements, and skills:
- A Ph.D. in physical science with expertise in meteorology, climate, hydrology, or related field
- Proficiency in high-level programming languages (e.g., FORTRAN, Matlab, Python)
- Experience in using atmospheric models and/or in field observations of stable isotope ratios in precipitation/water vapor is advantageous
