The Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Earth System Science (https://earthsystemscience.stanford.edu<https://earthsystemscience.stanford.edu/>), with the potential for a joint appointment as a Center Fellow in an institute in the Stanford Doerr School. Earth System Science is the study of the world’s air, water, land, and life as an integrated system. Our department is focused on uniting basic and purpose-driven research to understand how the Earth functions, the many ways it is changing, and the consequences for people and other species. We are interested in candidates who can contribute to the department’s strategic research and teaching priorities. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, hydrologic science, global ecology, biodiversity, climate adaptation, human & planetary health, and sustainable food systems. We also welcome applicants who are advancing approaches to environmental data science, systems science, and/or Indigenous environmental (or ecological) traditional knowledge. All interested candidates in any area of Earth System Science are strongly encouraged to apply.

The expected base pay range for this position is $138,000 - $158,000. Stanford University has provided a base pay range representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for the position. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including years since terminal degree, training, and field or discipline; departmental budget availability; internal equity; and external market pay for comparable jobs.
