The Mountain Hydrology Research group at the University of Wyoming is hiring 1 Ph.D. student and 1 M.S. to start in Fall of 2025 for an NSF funded project. The successful applicants will become research assistants (RAs) on the topic of melt dynamics in mountain snowpacks. The research will build on previous research of liquid water flow through snow and hillslope runoff processes. This project includes components that welcome applicants from a variety of scientific backgrounds including, but not limited to: hydrology, snow science, soil physics, geophysics, remote sensing, and analysis of large datasets. Skills in programming (R, Matlab, or Python), GIS, and experience with winter fieldwork in mountain environments are highly desirable.
The RAs will be part of the Mountain Hydrology Research group led by Dr. Ryan Webb (www.webbhydrology.weebly.com<http://www.webbhydrology.weebly.com/>). The Ph.D. student will have the option to also be part of the Interdisciplinary Program in Hydrologic Sciences program at the University of Wyoming (http://www.uwyo.edu/wrese/index.html).
Desired Qualifications and Skillsets:

  *   Experience conducting fieldwork in remote mountain environments Experience with snow science (research or recreationally) Ability to work independently Effective communication (oral and written) Experience with GIS software
