The Environmental Studies Program at Centre College invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor of Environmental Science to join our expanding interdisciplinary program in August 2025. We are deeply committed to fostering an inclusive environment that celebrates diversity in all its forms. To this end, we actively seek candidates who will enrich the diversity of our campus community, support our diverse student body, and employ inclusive pedagogical practices.

We seek candidates who address environmental challenges through an interdisciplinary lens combining field, laboratory, and/or computational research, and who specialize in the environmental physical sciences and/or earth systems sciences, including fields such as geology, environmental chemistry, hydrology, atmospheric science, soil science, and physical geography. Qualified candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Environmental Science or a related field by the time of appointment.

The successful candidate will be qualified and enthusiastic to teach a variety of courses in their area of expertise, in addition to regularly offering Introduction to Environmental Science (with Lab), which attracts students from across the college. Collaborative research with undergraduates is both expected and supported, and competitive startup funds are included.

The successful candidate will join a compassionate community of teacher-scholars dedicated to excellence in teaching and student mentorship, diversity, equity, and inclusion, shared governance, interdisciplinary collaboration, global study and citizenship, faculty-led study abroad, scholarly achievement, and service to the college and broader society. We offer a supportive environment for faculty from all backgrounds, mentoring for early-career faculty, and ongoing professional development opportunities.
