I am looking for 2 PhD and 2 MSc students to join my team at the Forest Research Institute at the Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue (UQAT).

PhD 1: Long-term effects of forest defoliation by insects on lake-water quality
This PhD project will use geochemical and sedimentary DNA analyses to track past spruce budworm outbreaks and identify their effects on water quality and long-term carbon cycling in lakes. For more information and to apply, please see: https://www.uqat.ca/etudes/irf/offresdestages/pdf/offredestage_forets_defoliation_eng.pdf

PhD 2: Long-term effects of climate change on carbon cycling in boreal lakes
This PhD project will use geochemical and pollen analyses to assess long-term effects of climate-driven changes in forest cover and composition on carbon dynamics in boreal and subarctic lakes . For more information and to apply, please see: https://www.uqat.ca/etudes/irf/offresdestages/pdf/position_lake_browning_greening_boreal_forest_eng.pdf

MSc 1: Long-term effects of acid rain on organic matter quality in lakes
This MSc project will use biogeochemical and spectroscopic techniques to characterize the effects of atmospheric acid deposition on organic matter quality in lakes. For more information and to apply, please see: https://www.uqat.ca/etudes/irf/offresdestages/pdf/offredestage_forets_acid_rain_eng.pdf

MSc 2: Effects of dust from mining activities on peatlands
This MSc project aims to characterize the isotopic, geochemical, and mineralogical signatures of mine dust and its impact in mine-adjacent peatlands. For more information and to apply, please see: https://www.uqat.ca/etudes/irf/offresdestages/pdf/MSc%20Position%20UQAT%20Mining%20Impacts%20on%20Peatlands_ENG.pdf
