Dear critical zone colleagues,
The Department of Geological and Environmental Sciences at Appalachian
State University (App State) is searching for a tenure-track critical
zone-focused Assistant Professor. App State is a member of the University
of North Carolina system located in the Blue Ridge mountain town of Boone.
Our department is undergraduate-only with ~350 students and 20 faculty. We
pride ourselves on engaging undergraduates in externally-funded research as
well as developing innovative courses to train modern earth and
environmental scientists. See the full job posting below:
https://appstate.peopleadmin.com/postings/42291
Boone has great access to the outdoors, a median home price of $370k, and
is <2 hours from Charlotte, Winston-Salem, and Asheville. Our department
won a 2022 university award for its diversity, equity, and inclusion
efforts, and we strongly encourage applications from scientists from
minoritized backgrounds.
Review of application materials will begin on October 15. Please email me (
armstrongwh at appstate.edu) or search committee chair Bill Anderson (
andersonwp at appstate.edu) with any questions.
Sincerely,
Billy Armstrong
