Dear colleagues,

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate focusing on two areas: 1) how
climate change will alter aquatic flows in streams and rivers across the country;
and 2) how climate information can be further incorporated into aquatic ecosystem
management. This position, which will be located at the University of
Massachusetts Amherst, is part of the U.S. Geological Survey's Future of Aquatic
Flows initiative. The title of the project associated with this opening is “A data-
driven framework to inform projections of aquatic flows in the Northeast”.

Job responsibilities will include:
• Development of project research goals through innovative ideas and
approaches.
• Development of a data-driven framework for hydroclimatic modeling
including preparation of documentation and instructional material.
• Implementation and analysis of case studies to demonstrate use of scientific
machine learning in providing climate change information.
• Communication and needs assessment of Northeast stakeholders, interaction
with other post-doctoral researchers in the Climate Adaptation Fellows
cohort, and participation in research group meetings.
• Preparation and presentation of research papers and reports at national and
international scientific meetings. Presentation of occasional lectures and
seminars, as requested.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements include:
• Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering, Geosciences, Data Science,
Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Ecology, Water Resources, Forest Resources,
or related field.
• Demonstrated programming and data management skills, knowledge of
statistical methods, and experience with computational methods and
modeling.
• Demonstrated skills in writing scientific papers and project reports.
• Ability to travel and participate in project research meetings, and give
scientific presentations at national meetings.

Applicants must provide a CV, a cover letter describing their research
experience and interests, and the name and contact information (email
address) of three professional references. Search will remain open until
filled.
Please submit applications and any questions about the position to the
project PI Konstantinos Andreadis (kandread at umass.edu).
