I am pleased to announce an open position in the newly formed Remote Sensing Data Analysis Section at the California Air Resources Board. This section will be responsible for collecting, managing, and analyzing methane plume detections obtained through remote sensing from satellites and aircraft. Methane is a potent greenhouse gas and mitigating these unintended leaks will be critical to solving our climate crisis.

This position will compile and maintain a geospatial database of industrial sources of potential methane emissions as well as other data to characterize land use and proximity to nearby communities. This person will also help optimize the satellite observational tasking configurations to ensure the most effective coverage of California's areas of interest. The candidate should ideally be able to compile, manage and manipulate geospatial datasets using GIS tools and geospatial libraries, as well as develop and implement interactive web-based mapping tools.

For any questions about the position or how to apply, please contact Steve Zelinka at the email address below.
