MS position available for Fall 2023 in the Department of Environmental Sciences
at Western Washington University
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will investigate snow algae in laboratory and field settings. This position will come with at least two academic years of support, one as a teaching assistant for courses within the Department of Environmental Sciences, and the second as a Graduate Research Assistant on a project funded through the National Science Foundation. The position will include the opportunity for local and regional fieldwork at Mt. Baker within the North Cascade Mountains, as well as analytical laboratory work for biological and biogeochemical analyses.

Minimum Qualifications
* Meet academic admission requirements of the MS, Environmental Sciences department: https://cenv.wwu.edu/esci/ms-environmental-science.
* Background in biological and/or environmental sciences
* Analytical laboratory experience
* Ability to conduct fieldwork in high alpine environments
* Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications
* Research experience in a wet lab
* Research/coursework in analytical chemistry and biology
* Teaching/mentoring experience in an academic or experiential setting
* Field work experience in mountain or polar environments
