The Geology Program within the School of Physical Sciences at the
University of Arkansas-Little Rock is looking for a visiting assistant
professor of geology to join our faculty starting in the Fall 2023 term.
Details of the position are as follows:

*Department: *Geology (School of Physical Science)

*Summary of Job Duties:*The Geology Program requires faculty maintain a
strong commitment to teaching and research as well as service in support of
UA Little Rock’s mission. The Program offers undergraduate degrees in
geology and a master’s degree in applied sciences. Applicants should
provide evidence of potential for excellence in both teaching and research.
Teaching duties include undergraduate classes in standard load aligned in
UA at Little Rock. Evidence of publications, presentations and/or project
funding will be desirable for research. Service will possibly include
serving on committees within the Program, college, and university, and
outreach within the community and the profession. This position is governed
by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.

*Qualifications:*

*Required Education and/or Experience: *

   -

   A Ph.D. in Geology or a related field at the time of appointment; ABD
   candidates will be considered.

*Preferred Education and/or Experience:*

   - Ability to teach some combination of Hydrogeology, Environmental
   Geology, Introductory Geology, and courses in the applicant’s area of
   expertise.
   - Experience teaching at the college level is desired.

*Job Duties and Responsibilities:*

   -

   Teach some combination of Hydrogeology, Environmental Geology,
   Introductory Geology, and courses in the applicant’s area of expertise;
   -

   Teach elective courses in area of expertise;
   -

   Design and lead field trips related to course content;
   -

   Design and implement laboratory activities related to course content;
   -

   Conduct geology-related research, particularly with undergraduates;
   -

   Advise and mentor undergraduate students in Geology;
   -

   Potentially advise and mentor graduate students in Applied Science;
   -

   Contribute to the management and promotion of the Geology Program;
   -

   Perform other duties and services as needed in the program, school,
   college, and university;
   -

   Participate in outreach and recruitment activities;
   -

   Solicit research or project funding in geology.
