We seek a Postdoctoral Appointee at Sandia National Laboratories in Livermore, CA (although there is the potential for remote work). This position concerns research in Bayesian inference and Machine Learning, and their application in Earth Science. This position could support projects that touch on a wide range of Earth Science domains including earth systems modeling, climate modeling, atmospheric science, geophysics, seismology, and seismic monitoring. A successful candidate will utilize Bayesian inference and Bayesian optimal experimental design methods to improve the way data is gathered and assimilated within these applications. This will involve using machine learning and robust statistical methods to balance computational tractability and solution accuracy. This position will involve significant collaboration with researchers within Sandia, other national laboratories, and academic institutions.
