The Research Associate will join team of researchers, informaticians in building, managing, analyzing biodiversity datasets. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining rigorous data standards, retains the scientific integrity of new data being uploaded to the MOL database. The candidate will generate data products, prepare, upload data, liaise with data partners, experts, work with the data mobilization to oversee the digitization of spatial biodiversity information. They will work closely with the other team members to make sure that data products are being delivered in timely, efficient manner. They will document procedures, communicate progress in an organized, logical manner. Specific tasks of this role include: Supporting species distribution modeling efforts, executing existing modelling workflows. Managing biodiversity data: assessing incoming datasets, preparing datasets to upload to the database, ensuring rigorous quality control, uploading datasets to the Map of Life database. Establishing, maintaining contact with data providers, ensure data sharing standards, acquiring new datasets, digitizing existing datasets. Establishing new, maintaining existing connections with biodiversity, species experts, actively seeking, facilitating expert feedback on species distribution models. Providing support for researchers, team members with spatial analyses. Develop, maintain documentation for MOL data related processes, data, develop, update protocols. Preparing metadata and maintaining tracking sheets. Using different coding platforms, languages (such as R, SQL, Python) to perform analyses, clean manipulate data, prepare data for uploading, upload data to databases. Instructing, supporting student assists, postgrad associate with their regular tasks providing technical, data support to researchers. MOL aims to support effective global biodiversity education, monitoring, res, decision-making by assembling integrating a wide range of knowledge about species distributions, their dynamics over time. Built on a scalable web platform geared for large biodiversity environmental data, MOL provides best-possible species distribution inform together with a range of information, biodiversity indicator products. MOL leads the data integration, mapping efforts of the Half-Earth Project that aims to identify, prioritize target areas for global biodiversity conservation.
