Topic: The work involves establishment, development, and management of an exploratory platform (focus on chemical composition of organics using MS) of ACTRIS-Sweden located at the University of Gothenburg. (full description below and at the web page https://tinyurl.com/UGOT-MS )

Description: The Principal Research Engineer should mainly (80%) work within the framework of ACTRIS Sweden, a national research infrastructure that was recently granted by the Swedish Research Council. The work involves establishment, development and management of the exploratory node of ACTRIS-Sweden located at the University of Gothenburg. The work at this node is led by a station manager located at the Department of Chemistry and Molecular Biology.

The work includes both daily routines and temporary more intensive measurement campaigns. Furthermore, the work involves close contacts and collaboration with various researchers and research groups as well as with other personnel who use the infrastructure. The planned Gothenburg node consists of a mobile platform with advanced equipment for measurements of short-lived climate-affecting air pollutants (including aerosols and reactive trace gases). Examples of instruments are aerosol mass spectrometer (AMS) and chemical ionization mass spectrometer (CIMS) with different ionization types for analysis of both gas phase and particle phase. The location of the mobile platform is flexible and will require traveling.

A large part of the work consists of monitoring, calibration, maintenance and quality control of these measurement systems, as well as data processing and data delivery. Data is delivered partly to users and partly to ACTRIS common database. One will be involved in research projects that use the infrastructure, for example when planning and carrying out measurement campaigns.

In addition to the work at ACTRIS-Sweden, work (20%) should can be carried to support research projects at the atmospheric science group, at the department of Chemistry and Molecular Biology (maximum 20%) .

We think the right candidate will fit into our dynamic group and the Scandinavian way of doing excellent research!
