Emissions Monitoring Scientist

LongPath Technologies uses Nobel Prize-winning laser technology to mitigate greenhouse gas
emissions from the oil and natural gas supply chain. Our patented technology and innovative
deployment design provides low-cost continuous monitoring of emissions, providing the industry
with the state-of-the-art in emission quantification and rapid repair of fugitive emissions.
Sunny Boulder, Colorado is home to a thriving downtown and university campus, with bikeable
commute options and ready access to world class rock climbing, skiing, hiking and biking. A
short 30-minute drive provides access to Denver’s museums, airport and city life. Remote or
partial remote work may be negotiable.
Methane Emissions Data Scientist Position
LongPath is seeking to fill an open position to write and develop algorithms to continue pushing
our data product forward. The successful candidate will provide critical code and research-grade
software development, research, data analysis, algorithm development and data presentation
needs. The successful candidate will work one-on-one with LongPath’s Data team, SW
Engineering team, Customer Management team, and R&D arms.

Key job responsibilities
● Algorithm analysis and implementation of atmospheric and inverse models in Python
● Statistical analysis of concentration, meteorological and emission rate timeseries data
● Preparation of presentation materials, including high-level insights and analysis
● Preparation of written materials, reports, and figures for internal and outside use

Required skills and experience
● Proven research experience in a relevant field. Preference given to PhD or masters’ degree in
environmental sciences, atmospheric or ocean sciences, engineering or related field.
Exceptions made for excellent research experience without an MS or PhD degree.
● Proven track record of independent and high-level scientific research and data analysis
● Fluency in a coding language, with preference given to applicants who use Python
● Preference for experience with atmospheric dispersion models (e.g., AERMOD, CALPUFF)
● Publication record or equivalent demonstration of scientific results communication
● Strong organization skills and strength in maintaining documentation of projects
● Meticulous attention to detail, quality and the ability to efficiently multitask
● Comfortable working on time sensitive tasks while remaining highly organized
● Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
