Do you love science but feel that a career in research or academia is not enough to satisfy your desire to learn more about the natural world? Do you enjoy reading papers outside your area of research? Are you passionate about the challenges our planet increasingly faces? If the answers are 'yes', you could be the person we are looking for to join our team at Nature Geoscience.

Nature Geoscience is a monthly multi-disciplinary journal that aims to bring together top-quality research from across the full spectrum of the Earth and planetary sciences (www.nature.com/ngeo<http://www.nature.com/ngeo>). We are seeking an Associate or Senior Editor to join the editorial team.

The successful candidate should have a PhD (or equivalent) in an area of the geosciences, preferably within an area of solid earth science - including geology, geochemistry, geophysics, and geomorphology - or hydrology. However, strong candidates from other areas of the geosciences will also be considered. Postdoctoral experience will be an advantage, as will breadth of knowledge and interest in geoscience research, both within and beyond your specialty. Editorial experience is not required, but applicants with previous editorial experience are encouraged to apply and will be considered for Senior Editor.

The successful candidate will report to the Chief Editor and will contribute to shaping the future of the journal. They will work closely with the Nature Geoscience team on all aspects of the editorial process, including manuscript selection, overseeing the peer-review process, commissioning and editing Reviews, Commentary and News & Views, and writing for the journal. They will liaise extensively with the scientific community (both online and in person) and travel to international conferences.

This is a demanding and intellectually stimulating position. The successful candidate must be dynamic and highly motivated. They also must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a keen interest in the communication of science, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a timely fashion.

The position is offered on a full-time, permanent basis and can be located in our London, Berlin, Shanghai, New York, Beijing, Tokyo, or Washington DC offices (hybrid working).

Applicants should send:

- a brief cover letter explaining your interest in the post and any salary expectations
- a CV (including a brief account of your research and other relevant experience)
- a research highlight in Nature style (about 150 words, see examples here: https://www.nature.com/nature/articles?type=research-highlight) on a recent Nature Geoscience paper.
