The urban climate research lab in the Department of Atmospheric and Earth Science (AES) at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) seeks a highly-motivated postdoc research associate in high-resolution regional and urban heat research from satellite and ground observations.

We encourage applications from recently-graduated and highly motivated PhDs with a research interest in quantitative remote sensing, urban climate, and/or public health. The successful applicant will be part of NASA-funded projects investigating the fine-scale urban thermal environmental changes and the long-term efficacy of cooling infrastructure and its implications for future urban and regional sustainable development. The postdoc will closely with Prof. Leiqiu Hu at UAH, Prof. Christopher Uejio at Florida State University, and other regional partners.

Preferred background and expertise:

• Strong quantitative background training in one or more of the following areas: remote sensing, climatology, geostatistics, big data analytics, or other related physical sciences.
• Working knowledge of at least one scientific programming language (R, Python, MATLAB, etc.)
