*The Saikawa Lab at Emory University is looking for two postdoctoral
fellows to join our team!*
We have two community-engaged research projects focused on soil lead
contamination and climate and health, as well as others on climate-smart
agriculture and outreach using low-cost air quality sensors, etc. We are
looking for postdocs that would be engaged with the two main projects but
we welcome those that are interested in being part of other projects in the
lab as well. Our lab website is here: https://www.saikawalab.com/
One project is focused on understanding soil ingestion rates of children
(more information is here: https://tinyurl.com/soilPb). We recruit
households surrounding the Superfund Site that we identified and work with
children between six months and six years old to understand their exposure
routes and their soil ingestion rates. For this position, experience with
soil heavy metal contamination (especially lead), epidemiology, toxicology,
and community-engaged research is highly valuable.
The second position is focused on understanding potential climate change
impacts in nine neighborhoods in Atlanta. Using climate models and existing
datasets, we hope to understand health impacts in vulnerable populations in
Atlanta (more information is here: https://tinyurl.com/climodel). For this
position, experience with big data, satellite data and global models, as
well as interest in community-engaged research is highly valuable.
We are also working with low-cost air quality sensors, engaging multiple
middle and high school students, as well as on climate-smart agriculture,
trying to understand how different agricultural practices affect GHG and
air pollutant emissions from agricultural soils. I would like to identify a
suitable candidate as soon as possible and so those that can start this
year would be wonderful.
I would appreciate your help in disseminating the information and I
continue reviewing applications until the positions are filled.
Thank you so much for your help.
Best,
Eri
