Ph.D. Opportunity - Biogeochemical and ecological controls on cyanotoxin production in rivers
The Blaszczak Aquatic Ecosystem Ecology Lab at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) is seeking a Ph.D. student to work on a project funded by the National Science Foundation with collaborators from the University of Utah and CSU San Marcos to collect field data and develop models to understand and predict cyanotoxin production by cyanobacteria in rivers in northern California, Nevada, and Utah. This is a highly collaborative project, and the student can expect to work with other graduate students, a postdoc, and technicians as well as an interdisciplinary group of stakeholders.
The Ph.D. student will ideally start the position by June 2023 to collect preliminary data in northern California before the start of the Fall 2023 semester. A strong candidate for the position has previous research (lab and/or field) and data analysis experience (e.g. R, statistics coursework), is self-motivated, diligent, and has an interest in being a part of a collaborative team. Read more about the project objectives under the position description here: https://blaszczaklab.weebly.com/current-openings.html
If interested, please submit by October 31st, 2022: 1) a brief (one-page) motivation letter outlining your scientific interests and how you fit this specific position, (2) your resume/CV, and (3) unofficial transcripts at the link posted under the position description here: https://blaszczaklab.weebly.com/current-openings.html
