Lecturer of Environmental Science
Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Organismal Biology

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a nine-month, non-tenure track faculty position as Lecturer of Environmental Science in the Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Organismal Biology beginning August 2023.

A commitment to excellence in teaching and service to the university, department and/or discipline is expected of all non-tenure track faculty.

- Successful candidates will be expected to establish an inclusive teaching environment where students from diverse backgrounds can be successful and feel like they belong.
- The main responsibility of this position is teaching at the undergraduate level with an emphasis on active, inclusive, and experiential learning.
- The primary teaching area will be in the Environmental Science major course sequence: Introduction to Environmental Science (ENVS 2202K), Environmental Ethics (ENVS 4300), and the Environmental Science Senior Seminar (ENVS 4399).
- Other teaching responsibilities may include Environmental Science courses for non-majors, including Science, Society, and the Environment I and II (SCI 1101 and 1102).
- Duties may include teaching evenings.
- Summer teaching is optional.
- This is a teaching position, so there are neither expectations of nor support for research.
- Participation in professional service and support for inclusive excellence within the Department, the College of Science and Mathematics, the University, and beyond is expected.
- Teaching and working with a culturally and an ethnically diverse community is expected.

Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.

Required Qualifications Include
- A minimum of a Master’s, or the foreign equivalent, in Environmental Science or a closely related field.
- At least one graduate-level course in ethics (e.g., bioethics or environmental ethics).
OR
- A Master’s, or the foreign equivalent, in any discipline and 18 graduate credit hours in Environmental Science or a closely related field.
- At least one graduate-level course in ethics (e.g., bioethics or environmental ethics).

Preferred Qualifications Include
- Demonstrated success using evidence-based, inclusive teaching practices at the university level.
- A record of teaching environmental science, environmental ethics, or related courses.
- Experience mentoring undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds.
- A record of engaging with culturally and ethnically diverse communities and contributing to inclusive work and classroom environments.
- Experience teaching on-line or hybrid courses
