The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has an open Air Resources
Engineer position until 11/30/2022:
https://www.calcareers.ca.gov/CalHrPublic/Jobs/JobPosting.aspx?JobControlId=338752
.
This position will be a very exciting opportunity to shape future air
quality and climate policies for California's mobile source programs. The
incumbent will lead innovative research, advance modeling and data
collection techniques, develop emission inventory and analytical platforms,
and interact with a wide variety of stakeholders. This permanent full-time
position can be located in Sacramento or Riverside County (by current
policy, incumbents can work up to 80% of their time remotely).

See below and the job posting for details:
The Mobile Source Technology Assessment and Modeling Section (MSTAMS) is
recruiting for an Air Resources Engineer in the Mobile Source Analysis
Branch (MSAB), which develops emissions inventory methods, models,
databases, and tools to support on-road emissions assessment needs in the
areas of air quality planning, transportation planning, photochemical
modeling, and project level assessment.

The position is part of a team that will be responsible for periodically
updating CARB's Mobile Source Strategy
<https://ww2.arb.ca.gov/resources/documents/2020-mobile-source-strategy>
and collaborating with all teams developing mobile source inventories,
regulations, enforcement programs, research programs, emissions testing
programs, and air quality incentive programs. The section is also
responsible for development of web-based application platforms such as the
Mobile Emissions Toolkit and Analysis (META) tool as well as integrated
mobile source emissions inventory platforms such as EMFAC
<https://arb.ca.gov/emfac/>.

Under the supervision of an Air Resources Supervisor I, the successful
candidate will use advanced modeling and data collection techniques to
develop and apply analytical platforms to better shape future air quality
and climate policies for the State's mobile source programs. These
investigations will require forward thinking to anticipate the impacts of
future regulatory activities on fleet characteristics and vehicle
technologies. Through participation in various workgroups and potential
team leadership opportunities, the incumbent will stay abreast of data
collection and data integration techniques related to on-road emissions
models and modeling techniques. They will also provide review of technical
reports, memoranda, and other documents intended for management or outside
stakeholders.

Please help us spread the word!

Thanks,
Jiachen
