We are looking for applicants who possess water quality monitoring and data analysis skills, the ability to design studies to study water quality problems, and the ability to engage with stakeholders on the results of their projects.

During Healthy Washington Roadmap to Recovery, employees are working a combination of in-office and/or telework based on position and business need. This position is not currently required to work in the office on a regular basis.

What you will do:


This position is the Southwest Regional Water Quality Program senior environmental section specialist on water quality monitoring, scientific field studies, and data analysis. In this role, you will:

*        Conduct environmental assessments to understand which water bodies are being successfully improved, and which will still need additional cleanup work.

*        Serve as the section's technical resource for water quality monitoring of TMDL efforts. Use knowledge of the practices, methods, and techniques of environmental sampling, testing, data gathering, basic research, and field investigations to provide technical assistance and recommendations to TMDL staff.

*        Conduct all aspects of project administration on TMDL-related water quality monitoring projects. Provide environmental technical assistance on high-priority environmental issues requiring technical expertise such as monitoring and data analysis.

*        Conduct special regional scientific field studies consisting of sampling, data gathering, field investigations, field surveys, data analysis, and report writing in order to understand the effectiveness of TMDL implementation and guide future water quality improvement efforts.

*        Teach, train, and mentor Ecology and local government staff on proper water quality monitoring techniques.

Required Qualifications:
Experience for both required and desired qualifications can be gained through various combinations of formal professional employment, educational and volunteer experience. See below for how you may qualify.

Option 1:

Nine (9) years of combined experience and/ or education. One year of the required experience must include collecting and analyzing field data for water quality studies.
:

*        Education: Involving major study in environmental, physical, or one of the natural sciences, environmental planning or other allied field.

*        Experience: In environmental analysis or control or environmental planning.



Experience may include a combination of the following:

o   Experience designing water quality monitoring studies, conducting scientific field studies, and analyzing water quality data.

o   Experience presenting water quality data and building relationships with stakeholders.
