Okazaki Lab. at Hirosaki University, Japan, has embarked on an exciting and
ambitious program, to reconstruct the last millennium climate on a daily
scale as well as on an annual scale by fusing past personal diaries,
climate proxies, and climate model simulations. We are seeking a
postdoctoral researcher to tackle this with us. The position is funded by
JSPS as part of Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (S) led by Kei
Yoshimura at The University of Tokyo. The position is expected to be
in-person at Hirosaki University, Aomori, Japan.
The successful applicant will {1} perform simulations with GCMs for the
last millennium, {2} merge paleo-observations and simulations with offline
data assimilation, and {3} develop a new data assimilation method that can
constrain model dynamics with paleo-observations. The postdoc will be
expected to collaborate with other members of the project.
The initial appointment is for one year with the possibility of renewal
subject to satisfactory performance and available funding. The position
will remain open until filled. The preferred start date is Sep 2022.
