Part-time Lecturer in Intro to Environmental Fieldwork, Tufts University
Location: Medford, MA
The Environmental Studies Program at Tufts University is searching for a part‐time lecturer to teach the undergraduate-level Introduction to Environmental Fieldwork course in the Fall 2022. This class meets twice a week (Tuesday recitation: 3:00-3:50 pm, Wednesday lab: 1:20-4:20pm). This course is mandatory for students majoring in Applied Environmental Studies and particular tracks within the Environmental Studies co-major.
The goal of this course is to provide an overview of different qualitative and quantitative methods frequently used in the environmental field through application to concrete projects, preferably in collaboration with local community partners. Students will learn how to frame questions, identify appropriate research designs, discuss basic issues in research ethics, and collect and analyze environmental data relating to natural, social, and historical sciences.
Qualifications
Candidates should have an advanced degree, and experience in interdisciplinary teaching across the natural and social sciences. Demonstrated commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching is required. Preference will be given to candidates who have prior experience collaborating with local community partners.
