*Position Function*:

Work with a team to install, measure, monitor, collect and analyze samples
from forests planted under the USDA Conservation Reserve Program in
southeastern United States.

*Essential Duties and Responsibilities:*

The primary position responsibilities are measuring forest vegetation,
collecting soil and biomass samples, processing and assisting with the
processing and analysis of samples in the laboratory, and recording data
with proper documentation. The position will be supervised in the field by
the project’s Lead Research Technician or a graduate student and report to
Dr. Joshua Granger or Dr. Courtney Siegert.  This position will be
temporary with work starting as early as April 15, 2022, and cumulative
hours not exceeding 720.

The above essential duties are representative of major duties in this
position. Specific duties and responsibilities may vary based upon
departmental needs. Other duties may be assigned to the above consistent
with the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the job. Not all of
the duties may be assigned to a position.

*Minimum Qualifications: *

·        Education: High School Diploma

·        Experience: Relevant experience related to the essential duties
and responsibilities listed above.

·        Substitutions: An equivalent combination of related education and
related experience may be considered for this position.

·        Must have a valid driver's license.

*Preferred Qualifications:*

·        Experience with Forest Inventory.

·        Experience with field forestry techniques and/or commensurate
education in forestry.

·        A B.S. in forestry or related subject completed or in-progress.

·        Proficiency using a map and compass to navigate.

*Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:*

·        Ability to drive long distances and spend long days in the field.

·        Ability to work with others.

·        Ability to walk long distances and carry 30+ pounds of gear.

·        Knowledge of and use of MS Office.

·        Good organizational skills.

·        Ability to pay attention to detail.

·        Able to work independently in remote locations.

*Working Conditions and Physical Effort:*

Regularly involves lifting, bending or other physical exertion. Often
exposed to one or more elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt,
chemicals, etc., with one often to the point of being objectionable.
Injuries may require professional treatment.
