Lincoln University is inviting applications for an academic appointment as a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Soil and Environmental Physics within the Department of Soil and Physical Sciences. The Department has a global reputation for research excellence. Our teaching is innovative and led by our cutting-edge research. Our graduates make an impact in the land-based sector by contributing to the sustainable management of soils and the wider environment. Departmental research activities span a wide range from pedology and soil resource characterisation to soil chemistry, biology, physics and fertility, biogeochemistry, earth sciences, water science and climate change. The Department is responsible for the delivery of Soil Science courses from diploma to postgraduate level as well as the delivery of first-year courses in chemistry, physics, and earth science.
Ngā tino Pūkenga/Whēako - Essential skills/experiences for the role
The qualifications and skills we are seeking for this role are:

  *   A PhD in Soil Science, Environmental Science or another closely related discipline
  *   An innovative research agenda, including research publications in peer-reviewed journals that relate to soil physics, including (but not exclusively): vadose zone, soil moisture, soil structure, surface processes (e.g., erosion, fluid flow, sediment deposition), critical zone processes (water and gas transport), remote and proximal sensing
  *   A proven track record in attracting external research funding and working with a variety of stakeholders
  *   An ability to inspire, be creative and show innovation in your teaching
  *   The capability, energy and enthusiasm to teach undergraduate soil physics, environmental physics; plus the ability to teach, supervise and mentor soil science and soil physics at postgraduate level
  *   Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work with students and staff from a diverse range of backgrounds.
  *   Excellent science communication skills
  *   Applicants with research interests in the areas of soil physical systems, irrigation and water use, and familiarity with New Zealand farming systems will be viewed favourably.
This is a full time, permanent position.
