[ES_JOBS_NET] Postdoc - Modeling Clouds and Climate at LLNL with E3SM-MMF

The climate group at LLNL has an opening for a Postdoctoral Researcher to conduct research with the Multi-scale Modeling Framework (MMF) configuration of the US DOE Energy Exascale Earth System Model (E3SM). E3SM-MMF has been built to leverage GPU acceleration on cutting edge supercomputers, enabling decadal scale experiments to be conducted much more efficiently than is possible on other MMF models.



The prospective candidate will work with a team of scientists to analyze model output from historical simulations covering several decades and compare to observational datasets, and then synthesize the results to assess the fidelity of the simulated climate in E3SM-MMF. The prospective candidate will also be encouraged to propose sensitivity experiments with E3SM-MMF and document the results to expand our understanding of this relatively new approach to atmospheric modeling.
