Hello All,

I'm writing to let you know we're looking for a tenure-track Assistant
Extension Specialist in Climate Change Resiliency at Rutgers
University, Department of Environmental Sciences in New Brunswick, NJ.

What does this mean? This is a typical teaching/research position with the
added benefit of institutionally-supported broader impacts. Rutgers
University has a vibrant extension outreach organization that works with
members of the public. We're looking for someone who wants to do
research in climate change impacts, adaptation, and resiliency and then
partner with the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station to translate
this science into outreach. Don't let the name fool you: folks who work on
climate impacts on urban areas are also welcome.

Preferred candidates will have a B.S. in a science or engineering
discipline and a Ph.D. in atmospheric or climate science, or related
science/engineering disciplines, and have demonstrated the ability to
conduct research, engage in grantsmanship, perform outreach, teach at the
graduate and undergraduate levels, and to mentor students.

Candidates should apply online to the link at
https://jobs.rutgers.edu/postings/187226, and provide the following items
as part of their online application: cover letter, CV, statement of
research, teaching philosophy, statement of extension interests, statement
on the candidates past efforts and commitment to diversity, equity, and
inclusion, and contact info for 3 references.

Review of applications will begin on January 30, 2023, and continue until
filled, with an intended position start date of September 1, 2023.

Questions may be directed to search at envsci.rutgers.edu.

As an added encouragement, I started about 3 years ago and this department
is full of people who are thoughtful and nice.

Cheers,
Mary Whelan
