The Department of Civil, Environmental, and Infrastructure Engineering (CEIE) at George Mason in Fairfax, VA (near Washington, DC) is seeking a postdoc to work in the lab of Dr. Lucas Henneman. Dr. Henneman’s group specializes in ambient air pollution and its effects on public health and equity. The postdoc will have the opportunity to integrate air quality models with other data sources to estimate air pollution exposure. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with leading scholars on issues related to environmental health and equity.

Qualifications: The candidate must have a PhD in Environmental Engineering, Atmospheric sciences, or related field by start of the position. They must also have a strong background in atmospheric sciences and experience with air quality modeling (e.g., CMAQ, CAMx, or GEOS-Chem). The strongest applicants will have experience with analytical/data science tools (e.g., R, Python, Github) and strong communication skills.

Start Date: Early 2023. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.

Location: CEIE is a vibrant and fast-growing department that offers MS and PhD programs, in addition to an ABET-accredited BS degree. During the last 5 years, the department has experienced tremendous growth in new research awards and enrollment in the PhD program. The College of Engineering and Computing is committed to significant investment in expansion of the department faculty and to double the current size within 5-10 years with a focus on research excellence.
