Postdoctoral Fellow –Climate Change and Cascading and Complex Risks

The project is a collaboration with the non-profit organization TMP. TMP 
has developed the Mission Climate Project (MCP), which attempts to 
quantify how climate change might act as a force multiplier for 
consequential socio-economic instabilities in the near term.

The successful candidate will work with Prof. Christian Franzke (PNU) 
and Mr. Lou Munden (TMP) *on the quantification of instabilities in 
near-term climate patterns, cascading extremes and complex risks using 
existing climate models, with a particular emphasis on all forms of 
extreme weather.*

Candidates should have a PhD in climate science, atmospheric science, 
mathematics, statistics, physics or any related field. Candidates are 
expected to have strong computational skills, excitement to work on a 
new research subject which has a strong applied character, a good 
publication record, the ability to work independently but also in a 
team, and an interest in working in an international and 
interdisciplinary research environment.

PNU is located in Busan, the second largest city in South Korea and the 
ninth largest port city in the world. Surrounded by ocean and mountains, 
the city has a dramatic natural background. From designer cafes, 
international movie and art festivals, award-winning restaurants to 
temples at the end of hiking trails, Busan has something to offer for 
everyone.
