The Department of Earth Sciences at Montana State University invites applications for the position of tenure-track Assistant Professor of Human-Environment Geography. We seek a human-environment geographer with expertise in a non-US world region and interests in human dimensions of global change, broadly defined. Specific areas of research could include, but are not limited to, social vulnerability to natural hazards and climate change, global environmental governance, and food security/food systems—approaches that complement and triangulate with existing strengths in resource geography (energy and water), environmental planning, political ecology, rural geography, mountain geography and biogeography, as well as the full spectrum of geosciences. The successful candidate will add a novel international perspective to departmental competencies in Latin America, central Asia, Australasia, and the American West and will have a clear vision for launching a successful research program from our location in Bozeman, Montana. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a large introductory course in World Regional Geography, to contribute to our upper-division and graduate curriculum, to provide graduate mentorship in our M.Sc. and Ph.D. programs, and to participate as a team player in a highly collegial and student-focused department.
