Hi All,
The University of Oklahoma is seeking someone who walks the line between IT and Earth Science (I know these people exist because I am one!) to support the development and eventual operations of the Science Operations Center (SOC) for NASA's GeoCarb Mission<https://www.ou.edu/geocarb/mission>. During the development phase, which is currently ongoing, the SOC Lead will create the architecture to support the GeoCarb instrument monitoring and observation planning tools as well as the interfaces with key mission partners<https://www.ou.edu/geocarb/about-us/team> at other institutions in line with NASA IT security requirements. During mission operations, the SOC lead will be responsible for monitoring the instrument health as well as developing the products that command the operations.
Required Skills:
* Familiarity with Linux system installation, networking, and
administration
* Proficiency in the use of Git for distributed version control
* Demonstrated strong software development skills including
the use of Python
* Technical writing proficiency
* Ability to work both collaboratively and in an independent,
unsupervised manner
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Department Preferences:
* Experience working with Earth science data formats (e.g.,
HDF, NetCDF, etc.), including the development and use of
analysis/visualization tools (e.g., IDL, MATLAB, etc.)
* Programming experience with scripting languages (e.g.,
shell, PHP, Perl, etc.)
* Experience with IT security controls development and
implementation
