Position Announcement

The Department of Earth & Environmental Sciences at Dixie State University
in St. George, UT invite applications for a tenure-track Assistant
Professor faculty position in the area of Environmental Science, to begin
Fall Semester or August 2022.

We seek a broadly trained professional with the potential to contribute to
DSU’s Earth, Energy and Environmental Sciences program. We are looking for
applicants passionate about teaching and mentoring undergraduate students.
The successful candidate will join a department of seven full-time faculty
members with diverse disciplinary expertise and will receive professional
mentoring from one or more full-time faculty in the department. More

Responsibilities


   - Teach 24 credits of lecture and laboratory courses each academic year.
   Develop new curricula and innovative teaching methodologies for upper-level
   undergraduate courses (specifically courses in Energy Technology and
   Sustainability, and Environmental Monitoring and Characterization).
   - Involve undergraduate students in experiential-learning projects and
   research.
   - Provide institutional service as required for all tenure-track faculty
   under DSU Policy 641.
   - Attend department, division, and college faculty meetings. Hold
   regular office hours. Work with other faculty in program management. Adhere
   to university policies.

Qualifications


   - Ph.D. in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or closely
   related field is required. ABD may be considered if degree is awarded prior
   to August 2022.
   - Successful teaching experience at the college or university level,
   ideally with experience using active learning models of instruction.
   - Ability to develop appropriate course content for face-to-face
   instruction, flipped, hybrid, and online instruction. Demonstrated ability
   to continually learn new skills, tools, and practices that are adopted by
   the professional and academic communities preferred.
   - Ability to work well with other faculty, staff, and students and
   contribute to a collegial environment.
   - Ability to communicate clearly with students, staff, and colleagues,
   both orally and in writing.
   - Background in field methods in environmental science, energy
   technology and sustainability, environmental monitoring, or any closely
   related field preferred.
   - Be strongly committed to the teacher-scholar model, maintaining
   high-quality teaching while also supporting research involving highly
   motivated undergraduates preferred.

Supplemental Information

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time (9-month)
tenure-track faculty position. Faculty service begins August 2022, with pay
& benefits starting July 1, 2022. Annual salary of $54,000 - $57,000,
depending upon qualifications & experience; additional compensation
available for summer/overload teaching. Excellent benefits package included
