[ES_JOBS_NET] PhD Studentship - Developing a geometallurgical model for a Kupferschiefer Cu-Ag-deposit

Dear All,

 

My research group is currently looking for a new PhD student to work on a
Kupferschiefer Cu-Ag deposit in the Lausitz region in Germany. The goal of
the project is to create a deposit model including quantitative information
relevant for the later beneficiation of the ores (i.e., mineralogy, mineral
chemistry, grain sizes, textures), in addition to standard bulk geochemical
information. If you are interested in working in the raw materials field in
the future, this project will provide you with a unique, highly desirable
skill-set, and will make you an attractive candidate for any position
related to minerals exploration and mining. The project is industry-funded,
and a close collaboration with the company currently holding the exploration
licence for the deposit will be required.

 

Candidates should ideally be recent graduates in economic geology,
mineralogy, geomathematics or a closely related field with an interest in
rock/ore characterization, data analysis and modelling. The position will be
available from the 1st of August 2021 for three years - the standard
timeframe for a PhD in Germany. A competitive salary according to the German
standards for PhD financing will be paid (see ad for details, link below).
The deadline for applications is on the 15th of June.
