We have a an exciting PhD position at the Institute for Environmental Studies (IVM) in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Are you interested in sustainable land use? Would you like to join a pan-European cohort of 15 PhD students from diverse fields of science exploring how to achieve sustainable use of phosphorus ?

The PhD is embedded in the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action (MSCA) European Innovative Training Network RecaP. RecaP will train a cohort of 15 PhD students to become Phosphorus specialist within the Global Phosphorus Challenge in a way that is socially, economically, and environmentally acceptable. This vacancy is for the individual research project ESR13: Understanding demand, constraints, and enablers for P recycling across the EU. Your duties

*         conduct high quality research and publish results in academic journals and a PhD thesis

*         make a literature review, collect and analyse data and design scenarios for simulation studies

*         collaborate within and outside the institute, including with fellow PhD RecaP students and experts in the field, through working visits to project partners in other countries


REQUIREMENTS


*         a completed MSc in physical geography, environmental sciences, or agro-ecosystems

*         experience in working with different quantitative methods, including handling of large (spatial) datasets

*         interdisciplinary interest in linking social and natural science aspects

*         good English writing and oral communication skills

The RecaP Innovative Training Network has a few strict eligibility criteria. You are you are only eligible if:

*         you are an Early Stage Researcher, i.e., you are in the first four years of research career and do not have a doctoral degree

*         you have not resided in the Netherlands for your main activity (work, studies, etc.) for more than 12 months in the last 3 years immediately before the recruitment date
