PROJECT SCIENTIST / GEOLOGIST / ENGINEER:
Nobis has a full time opportunity for a project-level scientist or environmental engineer to provide technical and field support at petroleum and hazardous material release projects located throughout the northeast. This individual will provide technical oversight and/or support for environmental investigations, remedial actions, and environmental due diligence projects for a variety of environmental project types throughout New England.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
As an experienced member of a project team, this individual will be responsible to work with other team members and provide technical and field support. Strong organizational and communication skill will be required to direct team members and others to effectively execute assignments and provide value to the project and project manager. This individual will also be responsible to communicate technical information with equipment and materials vendors and accurately document such communications relevant to the project work. Collection and interpretation of field data through observation and basic field data collection techniques is also required; and other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
Candidate will possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Civil, Environmental Engineering, or similar geoscience or engineering discipline, and between 4 and 10 years of relevant experience in environmental media sample collection protocols, documentation, and sample chain-of-custody. The Candidate must be capable of understanding and effectively communicating technical information in written and/or verbal setting. Candidate must be conversant with Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), and possess a valid driver’s license and own transportation.

Evidence demonstrating the completion of the following training is required: OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training (with current 8-hour refresher as necessary), 8-hours of HAZWOPER supervisory experience (as required by OSHA), and OSHA 10-hour construction worker safety training. The Candidate must have or be willing to obtain the Geologist in Training (GIT) or Engineering in Training (EIT) credential, as applicable; licensure as a Professional Geologist or Professional Engineer is preferred.

Preference will be given to applicants with prior experience in establishing/evaluating contaminated site conceptual models, evaluating potential contaminated site remedial alternatives, and supporting or evaluating contaminated site remedial design. You will be able to understand, interpret, and execute project planning documents including field sampling plans, sampling and analysis plans, quality assurance project plans (QAPPs), ad site specific health and safety plans. Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, and ESRI’s ArcGIS is preferred.
