YOUR POSITION WITH TNC

The Conservation Information Manager II manages and maintains conservation databases and provides technical support in GIS or other relational database technologies to the GulfCorps Program, a RESTORE Act-funded, NOAA-managed program that aims to restore, conserve, and enhance ecological systems and communities affected by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. The Program works with 5 conservation corps organizations running 11 crews across all 5 Gulf states. As work progresses, support may be provided to the Gulf of Mexico Program, a whole system in the Southern US Division.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Conservation Information Manager II processes spatial and/or relational data sets derived from cartographic and tabular source material. They perform data analysis and produce reports, provide hardware and software support, and train staff.  They build, maintain, and populate data and records databases and manual files, produce maps and/or other graphic products and reports, and develop and maintain a GIS library and/or database products library.

RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE


  *   May supervise interns and/or volunteers.
  *   May help develop work plans and project budgets as related to responsibilities.
  *   Trains TNC staff, partner organization staff, and/or corps staff on project-related monitoring data collection and database entry.
  *   Ensures integrity of data collection and management relating to conservation projects and project statistics/metrics
  *   Works under minimal supervision making independent decisions based on experience and judgment.
  *   Maintains and updates database software/information/data in accordance with program requirements.
  *   Works with TNC staff and external vendors to ensure databases are updated/maintained/May work in variable weather conditions, at remote locations, on difficult and hazardous terrain and under physically demanding circumstances.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


  *   BA/BS or Associates degree in related field and 2 years related experience; either with related relevant coursework, such as GIS, data analysis, database administration.
  *   Experience managing, maintaining, and populating databases and manual files.
  *   Experience producing maps and/or other graphic products and reports and operating GIS software.
  *   Experience analyzing, building, populating, and producing reports from databases.
  *   Experience with Microsoft Office (especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint), various web browsers, Google Earth.
  *   Ability to manipulate, analyze, and interpret data.
  *   Ability to manage time and diverse activities under deadlines while delivering quality results.
  *   Ability to communicate clearly via written, oral, and graphical means in English.



DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS


  *   Multi-cultural or cross-cultural experiences appreciated.
  *   2-3 years related experience
  *   Managing and prioritizing tasks from multiple sources.
  *   Training experience.
