*Paid Summer Undergraduate Internship: Analyzing Global Climate Model Data
to Understand Climate-Air Quality Linkages*



The Persad Aero-Climate Lab <http://www.ggpersad.com/> in the Jackson
School of Geosciences at The University of Texas at Austin is looking for
an enthusiastic and dedicated undergraduate student as part of a
multi-institutional project

coupled climate and air quality impacts of long-lived versus short-lived
air pollutants using global climate models. The researcher will be expected
to conduct 10 weeks of full-time research between the months of May and
September. Start and end date can be flexible to accommodate quarter or
semester schedules. Work is expected to be primarily remote. Compensation
includes an hourly rate of $10.31-$12.31/hour, depending on the student’s
undergraduate year, at 40 hours/week and a $1040 allowance for
participation in a domestic scientific conference.



The summer researcher will process, analyze, and visualize global climate
model output related to the role that short-lived air pollutants play in
the climate and air quality of several major economies. Internship
activities will include developing computer code to process climate model
data; visualizing and analyzing climate model results; preparing scientific
presentations; and carefully documenting all processing and analysis.

The intern will be supervised by Prof. Geeta Persad

Austin, Texas or may work remotely. S/he will have the opportunity to
participate in virtual and/or in-person seminar series’ and activities in
the Jackson School and will have access to University of Texas facilities,

Candidates must be currently enrolled in a United States university as an
undergraduate student and must have completed their freshman year of study.
As a requirement of the funding source, candidates must be U.S. citizens
and must have an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN), or a
Social Security Number.
