The Aeronautics Institute of Technology - ITA (http://www.ita.br/) located
in Sao Jose dos Campos, Sao Paulo State, Brazil, offers a (1) post-doctoral
fellowship on Ecosystem Services in Brazil.
This vacancy is part of the thematic project "ELOS - extending the
connections: from dose-response relations to the governance of ecosystem
services in the Atlantic Forest." financed
by FAPESP (São Paulo Research Foundation).

Natural environments, based on their ecosystem functions, promote the
generation and or maintenance of ecosystem services which are integrated
with the socioeconomic activities performed by different social groups.
However, an important portion of these services has been impacted, with
short, medium, and long term consequences for the maintenance of these
different social groups. In this context, and seeking to align
complementary research elements with other initiatives, this project will
address the knowledge gaps in the dose-response relationships of ecosystem
services for forest restoration and conservation: soil/water, carbon
retention, biodiversity, and socio-cultural. The knowledge of the spatial
dynamics in relation to the use of the Earth, as well as the spatial
associations between ecosystem services, in the region under study, are
objects of the post-doctoral proposal of the ELOS project.

- Integrates data and information on the ecosystem services under the study

REQUIRED LANGUAGES
English AND Portuguese

Skills/Qualifications
Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences or related field
Excellent analytical skills
Independent scientific and research work including publication of results
in peer-reviewed journals and presentation of results towards key
stakeholders
Experience with project management and scientific communication would be
considered as an advantage
