Air quality modeler

The successful applicant will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and applying air quality models, including coupled three-dimensional meteorological/photochemical models (e.g., WRF-Chem, WRF-CAMx, WRF-CMAQ). She or he may also take part in field and laboratory work, including collecting samples, maintaining analytical equipment, and processing and analyzing data. This individual will be involved in project development and planning (including grant-writing) and will engage with local government and industry stakeholders to establish relationships and cooperate in project execution. She or he will write reports and peer-reviewed publications.  This position may be filled at any level, from postdoctoral fellow to lead scientist, and is part of the Bingham Research Center<https://binghamresearch.usu.edu/> at Utah State University in Vernal, Utah.

Minimum Qualifications:

  *   Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science, Environmental Chemistry, or a related field.

  *   Experience in the following software platforms: the WRF meteorological model, the SMOKE emissions model, and one or more of the standard photochemical grid models, such as CMAQ, CAMx, or WRF-CHEM.
  *   Experience with high-performance, parallel-processing environments.
  *   Ability to work with Fortran and Python programming languages.
  *   Demonstrated skill in oral and written scientific communication.
