Applications are invited for MSc and PhD student at the University of New Brunswick – Fredericton, working under the direction of new faculty member, Dr. Allison Enright.
Electrochemical sensors have long been used for the in situ monitoring of environmental systems, including wastewater, agriculture, remediation, and pristine systems. Recent techniques have expanded the suite of possible measurements from in situ chemical monitoring to include microbial and biogeochemical processes in situ. Students are sought to work on various projects focused on in situ Fe-cycling, electrochemical signatures of natural microbial communities, and life detection strategies for Ocean Worlds.
The projects are interdisciplinary and students will learn microbial culturing, aqueous geochemistry, electrochemistry, and coding/scripting in R. Strong candidates may have a variety of backgrounds; applicants interested in the topic with an undergraduate degree in biology, environmental science, geology, or chemistry are encouraged to apply.
For more information, or to apply, please contact Dr. Allison Enright (aenright at unb.ca<mailto:aenright at unb.ca>). Include a copy of CV and a brief (1-3 paragraph) description of research interests and relevant skills.
Minimum qualifications for MSc positions is BSc, BEng, or BASc in relevant field. MSc preferred for PhD applicants. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until positions are filled. Start date is negotiable.
