We are advertising a 2-year researcher position at the University of
Bergen, Norway. The position is at the Geophysical Institute of the
university of Bergen, which is a part of the Bjerknes Center for
Climate Research. The position is in the field of Climate Dynamics
including the dynamics of the stratosphere/troposphere coupled system.
It will be within the Bjerknes Climate Prediction Unit (BCPU), which
focuses on predicting climate in the Atlantic-to-Arctic sector from
seasonal to multidecadal timescales.

The main aim of the position is to improve the understanding and
modelling of the mechanisms of climate variability in the
Atlantic-to-Arctic regions and surrounding continents. Potential topics
of research include (1) the processes governing the local interaction
among the stratosphere/troposphere coupled system, Atlantic Ocean and
Arctic sea-ice, (2) the processes governing the remote teleconnection of
the extratropical Atlantic regions to the tropics and Pacific, (3)
impact of natural and anthropogenic radiative forcing. The focus will be
on the season-to-multidecadal timescales. The work will involve both
analysis of data (model, observations, and reanalysis) and performing
climate model simulations. The candidate will mainly use the Norwegian
Prediction Model (NorCPM) and will participate in developing and
validating the stratosphere-resolving version of the model. There will
be close collaboration with the developers of the Norwegian Earth System
and Climate Prediction Models and other groups working on data
assimilation.

The deadline for the application is March 15, 2020. For details and
online application, please use this "jobnorge.no" website:
