The Chair for Ecosystem Physiology at the University of Freiburg is looking for a technician 

Full-time position. Start date: As soon as possible.

The position is to be filled as part of the ERC project VOCO2 "Biochemical link between plant volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions and CO2 metabolism - from sub-molecular to ecosystem scales". 

We are looking for a motivated and technically experienced member for our international team. Responsibility will include:

	1)   Participation in project-specific ecophysiological experiments in the laboratory and in the field

	2)   Measurement of VOC fluxes with a PTR-TOF-MS and isotope lasers in different experiments

	3)   Measurements of stable isotopes (13C, 15N, 18O) of various substrates by IRMS.

	4)   Preparation and analysis of the data obtained

After an induction period, the jobholder should also take over the maintenance and repair of the instruments.

Sound technical experience in PTR-TOF-MS measurements and/or in isotope mass spectrometry is desired. Due to the complex and extensive measurement data, good IT skills and basic knowledge of programming languages ​​(such as Matlab) are desirable. Good knowledge of English is required due to the international project composition. Familiarity with German language is preferable. Candidates should have a university or engineer degree or a comparable qualification.

The position is project-related for 1.5 years, with the option of later changing to a permanent position. Remuneration is at level E11 of the German civil salary code.
