Applications are sought for 2 different 3-year postdoctoral positions at Cornell university:

  1. Atmospheric transport of soil-borne pathogens A post-doctoral research position in this exciting new cross-disciplinary field will be held jointly between Plant Pathology and Earth and Atmospheric Sciences. The position entails linking remote sensing and atmospheric modeling tools with plant pathology and genetics. Because of the cross-disciplinary nature of the position, previous experience in all areas of the grant is not required, but skills/background in one area and the interest in working across disciplines is required. The start date for this position is anticipated to fall of 2020. The annual salary for this position is $54,000 plus benefits. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline (e.g., Plant Pathology, Environmental Engineering, Atmospheric Sciences). For full consideration, please send a letter of application, a current curriculum vitae, and the names and contact information of three references to: either Kaitlin Gold (Plant Pathology & Plant-Microbe Biology Section: kg557 at cornell.edu<mailto:kg557 at cornell.edu>) or Natalie Mahowald (Earth and Atmospheric Sciences: mahowald at cornell.edu<mailto:mahowald at cornell.edu>). Cornell University has an enduring commitment to support equality of education and employment opportunity by affirming the value of diversity and by promoting an environment free from discrimination.
  2. Characterizing and estimating agricultural and fugitive dust sources: The role of humans in increasing particulates through agricultural and fugitive dust sources is poorly understood, and yet potentially extremely important for weather, climate and biogeochemistry, and this project aims to combine in situ observations, satellite observations, models and historical datasets to understand the sources in the past, present and future. The annual salary for this position is $54,000 plus benefits, starting in the fall of 2020. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences or a related field. For full consideration, please send a letter of application, a current curriculum vitae, and the names and contact information of three references to: Natalie Mahowald (Earth and Atmospheric Sciences: mahowald at cornell.edu<mailto:mahowald at cornell.edu>).
