Job Summary
University of Northern Colorado (UNC) seeks an innovative, visionary, strategic and creative dean with exceptional leadership, administrative and interpersonal skills to lead the College of Natural and Health Sciences (NHS).
Founded in 1889, tucked between the Rocky Mountains and Colorado's stunning high plains, the University of Northern Colorado has grown from its roots as a teacher's college into an institution with international draw and status. UNC is a public doctoral research university that strives to cultivate the unique potential of each of its 11,000 students. Acclaimed for its expertise in performing arts, education, business, and health sciences, UNC offers more than 100 undergraduate programs and 120 graduate programs in a broad array of academic disciplines on campus, off campus and online across five colleges.
The College of Natural and Health Sciences is one of five academic colleges at UNC and includes four schools (Biological Sciences; Mathematical Sciences; Nursing; and Sport and Exercise Science), and seven departments (Audiology and Speech-Language Sciences; Chemistry and Biochemistry; Community Health Education; Earth and Atmospheric Sciences; Human Services; Nutrition and Dietetics; Physics and Astronomy). Notable is the wide breadth of disciplines of this college, physically separated on campus into the physical sciences and health sciences, but a cohesive unit nonetheless.
The dean of NHS is responsible for academic programs, fiscal resources and personnel within the college. The dean provides leadership to the college in support of faculty development, graduate and undergraduate education, and implementing the strategic vision of the college. In addition, the dean leads external fundraising efforts and is responsible for building relationships with the local community and state-level constituents. The dean will report to the provost and is expected to work collaboratively and in partnership with members of the provost's leadership team and the university community.
