Job Description

The Department of Geosciences and Geological and Petroleum Engineering at the Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) in Rolla, Missouri is seeking outstanding applicants for a non-tenure track Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor faculty position. Expertise in the petroleum industry and in drilling and/or completions is preferred but all areas will be considered.

Responsibilities include teaching the S&T drilling courses, but the background and/or experience to teach other petroleum engineering courses is a plus. The successful candidate may be expected to develop distance (on-line) courses, work with student organizations and design teams, and perform undergraduate advising. Some scholarly activity related to teaching is expected. A Ph.D. in petroleum engineering or a closely related field is required at the time of appointment.

Missouri S&T is one of the nation's leading research universities. Located about 100 miles west of St. Louis, Missouri S&T is an accessible, safe and friendly campus surrounded by Ozarks scenery. The campus is located in Rolla, Missouri, which is also home to the USGS Center of Excellence for Geospatial Information Science and the National Geospatial Technical Operations Center, which provide many opportunities for collaboration with USGS scientists. The GGPE Department has 19 tenured/tenure-track faculty and approximately 450 students (roughly evenly split between graduate and undergraduates). All of our programs offer B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees. The Petroleum Engineering program has approximately 80 undergraduate students and 40 graduate students. Missouri S&T is big enough to accommodate a diverse population, yet small enough for individuals to build high visibility and impactful careers! Missouri S&T seeks to meet the needs of dual-career couples.

More information about the department can be found at http://ggpe.mst.edu/. For further information about the program or this position, please contact Dr. David Borrok at borrokd at mst.edu<mailto:borrokd at mst.edu>.
