consecutive years, and is the only university in Florida to receive this
honor.

The Cooperative Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Studies (CIMAS) at the
University of Miami invites applications for a postdoctoral associate
specializing in coral reef transcriptomics to work closely with scientists
at RSMAS and NOAA's Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory's
Ocean Chemistry and Ecosystem Division (AOML/OCED). The position is for two
years, with the potential for continuation based on satisfactory performance
and availability of funds. The position is within the Acidification,
Climate, and Coral Reef Ecosystems Team (ACCRETE,
http://www.coral.noaa.gov/research/accrete.html ), a subunit of the Coral
Health and Monitoring Program (CHAMP, http://www.coral.noaa.gov/ ).

A postdoctoral level scientist with experience in coral transcriptomics is
needed to study corals from the Port of Miami, as well as samples collected
from a naturally acidified CO2 vent site. This position will entail both
field and laboratory investigation aimed at better understanding if, and
how, Caribbean corals can acclimatize and adapt to thermal stress, ocean
acidification, and other stressors, utilizing both traditional and 'omics
based tools to help characterize the mechanisms of this adaptation. In
particular, we are seeking a postdoc with experience in coral
transcriptomics to complement current expertise.

Preference will be given to candidates with: 1) an exemplary track record of
peer-reviewed publications, and 2) demonstrated experience with emerging
techniques of DNA and RNA Next-Generation-Sequencing Analysis, and 3)
experience working with corals and reef-associated organisms.

Applicants must possess a Ph.D. in marine science or a related field from an
accredited university.

Apply online at: www.miami.edu/careers. Curriculum Vitae, a letter of
interest, and the contact information for two people who can provide letters
of recommendation are required.
